Henry Avery's Ship, The Fancy. I was very happy to be part of the team that helped bring this to life. I was responsible for modeling all of the ship but the mast head / statues and original filigree. Most of the treasures found onboard were outsourced. The cave around the ship was laid out by me using slightly modified rocks and props from other locations in the game. Shader / Texture work was done by Heather Cerlan.
I attempted to make the ship as historically accurate as I could while allowing for proper gameplay. A major gameplay requirement was that the space needed to allow the player to both walk and swim through the entire ship. This made the ship taller and more flat then it would have been. Using the railing and hull's profile I tried to add back some of the curved sleek feel of what this ship would probably have had. To help keep the authentic feel I even went as far as to model the sailcloth based on the width of textile looms of the era.
